BrainHack Global Toronto 2026

You’re invited to BrainHack Global Toronto 2026 - Building Bridges in Brain Data on January 19-21, 2026 at the SickKids Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning!

Three days. One space. A place to create, collaborate, and learn with scientists, neurotech partners, engineers, clinicians, and trainees from across the GTA, working together at the same table to "Build Bridges in Brain Data".

This year’s event is sponsored by the Ontario Brain Institute's Centre for Analytics and hosted in collaboration with The Hospital for Sick Children Neurosciences & Mental Health Program (NMH)CAMH's Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI), and UHN's Krembil Brain Institute (KBI), united under the Neuronto initiative.

We’re excited to kick off Day 1 with talks from leading researchers across the Toronto neuroscience ecosystem including Tristan Glatard (KCNI), Kamil Uludag (KBI, Sunnybrook), Milad Lankarany (KBI), Rosanna Olsen (Baycrest Rotman Research Institute), and Farzad Khalvati (NMH).

This will be followed by project pitches and "Open hacking" sessions in which attendees will work together on projects of their own design. Open hacking projects are a great forum for getting support on a technical issue from your own research program or starting a new collaborative project. On day 2, we will host a BrainHack Global panel at 9 AM EST featuring organizers from BrainHack Montreal, BrainHack Taiwan, and more (TBD).

Worried about getting started? The event will also include introductory coding workshops hosted by the Centre for Computational Medicine (CCM) at SickKids offering an introduction to Python, machine learning with R, and High Performance Computing.

On Day 2, we will host a BrainHack Global panel at 9 AM EST featuring organizers from BrainHack Montreal, BrainHack Taiwan, and others (TBD).

Throughout the event, we will also run:
  • “Unconference” sessions, where talks are proposed and selected by attendees based on evolving interests.
  • “Ask Us Anything”: Peer Technical Support, where participants can get help trying out new analysis approaches or troubleshooting challenges with guidance from local experts.

Registration is $30 and will include breakfast, lunch and snacks. We hope to see you in January!

If you’re interested:
  • Spread the word! To encourage collaboration and friendship in science, we are adding discounted registration for people coming with friends! We have also allocated funds to assist with travel expenses for those coming from out of town. See website and Eventbrite for details.

Thank you,
